Laura and Alejandro had one of the prettiest Catholic church weddings I've ever seen. Everything was colorful and breezy and the priest had a great sense of humor. Here's a little trailer of their ceremony.
Awhile ago I was contacted by the Coronado Bridge Collaborative about making a video for their nonprofit organization. They are lobbying for suicide barriers on the Coronado Bridge. San Diego has an abnormally high suicide rate, especially on the bridge in particular. The interviews I did for this piece really touched my heart and I hope that this important cause comes to fruition!
Building a small business is HARD, people. When I started in this industry I was pretty naive. I had no solid plans of becoming full time so I didn't really do a ton of research into what wedding filmmakers actually do to make it work. I'll admit it, I pretty much haphazardly learned as I grew.
A couple years ago, I decided to make the jump into advertising. For wedding vendors, there are a plethora of endless advertising options out there! Luckily I was just coming down from the high of my own wedding, so I turned to the "old reliable" wedding planning blogs I used to help me with my own shindig, A Practical Wedding and Offbeat Bride.
Thanks to my first sponsored post on A Practical Wedding a couple years ago I've booked some amazing weddings with cool, smart couples and even gotten to travel to Monterey and Sacramento!
My featured vendor listing on Offbeat Bride is a new investment, but I've already booked a couple San Diego weddings with awesome couples for this summer. I love Offbeat Bride because they feature real, authentic couples who are really thinking about what marriages and weddings mean to them, rather than blindly following tradition and some *other* wedding blogs' advice.
If you're a vendor looking for advertising or an engaged couple looking for vendors, I highly recommend Offbeat Bride!
It's summer, finally! San Diego's "June gloom" has lifted and the sun is blazing! The time has come for sunbathing, surfing without wetsuits, and bonfires! I love it. To get you in the mood, here's a sweet beach wedding I shot in Corona del Mar last summer. I just love seeing the waves crashing in the background as Gume and Jeremy get married!
Katie loves to cook. And she's AMAZING at it. Her cooking classes and popup brunches are not only DELICIOUS but they're actually healthy! Her vegan, gluten-free, and sugar-free cuisine is a splurge you can feel good about. I loved getting into the kitchen to practice my food photography at a recent popup brunch for Father's Day.
This was my first military homecoming event and filming it was such a privilege! I had no idea how these events worked but thankfully it turned out to be pretty epic! Chase was on deployment for 10 months in the Middle East. His wife Amanda and family were so excited to welcome him home!
Katie & Enzo are good friends of mine and I'm so excited to film their wedding this fall! Today we got together in Balboa Park to film some interviews for their Love Story Documentary! They'll be showing this during their rehearsal dinner to help all of each other's relatives and friends from far away get to know them!
I rented a 5d Mark III and 50mm 1.2 for this shoot and the footage looks AMAZING! Check out these freeze frames!
A spectator caught me capturing the moment here at Coronado Naval Base. Amanda's husband Chase had been on deployment in the Middle East for 10 months! This was my first time witnessing a military homecoming and it definitely brought tears to my eyes! Thank goodness they are reunited! Full video coming soon!
A month ago I had the pleasure of working with Blessed Wedding Photography on Ruth and Lewis's Marina Village, Mexican-influenced wedding. The handmade Day of the Dead ornaments were so unique! I also had a lot of opportunities to use my new slider to get some really snazzy shots (if I do say so myself)! I'm really happy with how the editing came together for this wedding also. Let me know what you think!
In my time as a bartender I've been lucky enough to get to combine my talents and create some fun commercials for a few different bars and restaurants I've worked at. My funny friends at Mike Hess Brewing Company in San Diego came up with the idea for this commercial, advertising our delicious Orange Honey Wheat beer, "Jucundus", which no one can pronounce the name of!!!!!!!
In April I had the pleasure of shooting a Behind the Scenes video for a vendor-collaboration style shoot. The amazing planner Andi from Now That's A Party set it up! We had gorgeous models, luscious flowers, and a super unique concept! The best part for me was getting to practice new cinematography without the pressure of an actual wedding! Enjoy!
Awhile ago I had the pleasure of taking senior photos for my friend Jess's college graduation! We met as assistant instructors at The AjA Project, teaching photography and storytelling to Iraqi refugee middle schoolers in San Diego. She's an awesome lady! For this shoot, we went to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. The vibrant flowers were a perfect portrait background!
